New Year’s Resolutions

After today, three days remain in 2009.

As the year closes, I want to ask you a few questions.

Do New Year’s resolutions matter to you?

Do you make resolutions?

If you do, how did you do on your 2009 resolutions?

Have you made your 2010 resolutions yet?

If you do not make resolutions, would you tell us why?

I make resolutions.  For me, it just seems like the right thing to do.

This year my wife and I made several resolutions.  To my great surprise and amazement, my wife told me that we had successfully accomplished some of them.

When it comes to a Biblical basis for making resolutions, I always think of Philippians 3:12–14.

When I was much younger I heard a little poem that has stuck with me:

“It is better to try, and fail in the deed,

than never to try, and always succeed!”

Several tears ago someone told me, “My new year’s resolution is to not make any new year’s resolutions.”

His lack of accomplishment testifies to the sincerity of that comment.

May that not be you!

I decided to do it a little earlier this year. I figured why wait for the new year. So, I set my goal and focus a few weeks ago. I asked and I know, I will receive. I seek and I know I will find, I knocked and He opened the door for me. I will keep you posted!

1. I will try to send through the mail more cards and letters encouraging my friends and family. 2. Pay down my debts. 3. Find something to enjoy every day!
