Michael's LCJE Blog

April 7, 2008

Greetings from Boston! Along with Rob Styler and Marcia Hedrick, I’m here representing CJF Ministries at the annual North American meeting of the Lausanne Consultation on Jewish Evangelism (LCJE). Our annual LCJE North America meetings are a great way to meet up and connect with other Jewish ministries and workers within Jewish evangelism. It’s an opportunity to network, build new relationships, and continue existing ones, within the community of those who labor to share the Message of Yeshua with the Jewish people.

This year’s theme is “For Zion's Sake,” in honor of the 60th anniversary of Israel's declaration of independence.

For Zion’s sake I will not hold My peace,
And for Jerusalem’s sake I will not rest,
Until her righteousness goes forth as brightness,
And her salvation as a lamp that burns.
Isaiah 62:1

Today was the conference’s first official day, and we had several great speakers. Susan Perlman of Jews for Jesus updated us on the exposure of Jewish evangelism in the media. One particularly exciting item that she mentioned was the World Evangelical Alliance’s support of Jewish evangelism―in both theory and practice―that was published in the New York Times. Below is a link to the statement, which has been signed by a number of influential leaders from within the evangelical community:

Henry Morse spoke as well, addressing the need for creativity when bringing the Message of Yeshua to the Jewish people. Henry―a trained circus performer specializing in acrobatics―spoke about his passion and desperation for bringing the Gospel to the Jewish people, and how he uses his acrobatic talents to do so. He also encouraged us to look at new, creative ways to engage nonbelievers, build relationships, and thus develop opportunities with which to share our faith.

You can learn more about LCJE at the website www.lcje.net. A daily schedule is available with a list of speakers and topics. The LCJE site also has many other great resources.

I’m excited about LCJE-Boston and I’m looking forward to the next several days. Keep checking back with our site. I’ll be sending additional conference updates to keep you up-to-speed.
