First, before we get into the show notes, we wanted to let all of you know that Messianic Perspectives Weekend Edition is now available through iTunes, or as an RSS fed podcast (For those using a feed-reader or RSS compatible browser).
Archived shows will be posted on the Monday morning following the airing of the show. This is a great way for you to take the show with you on the road or share with your friends and family!
Here is some more information on how to listen to podcasts using iTunes.
On this week's program, we'll begin a new series from our Bible teacher, Dr. Gary Hedrick, titled "Egypt and the Arab Nations in Prophecy" and we'll hear from the author of a new book we interviewed at the NRB convention. Unfortunately, Brian was traveling so you'll have to bear with me as I did the show on my own! I've included the links to the articles we mentioned on the show as well.

Next week Brian should be joining us and I'll be in Israel. This will provide some technical challenges but I'm certain we'll be able to handle it. I'm not sure exactly what we'll have other than Part Two of Dr. Hedrick's series, but I'll bet we'll hear from our good friend Gideon Levytam. Stay tuned...

HANUKKAH
DEC 22, 2008
Hanukkah is not mentioned in the Tanakh; however, it is alluded to in the apocrypha books of 1 Maccabees and 2 Maccabees. In the Second Century BCE, Judah Maccabees and his brothers led a revolt against Antiochus IV Epiphanes, who had desecrated the Temple, murdered Jewish citizens, and outlawed the Jewish religion. In 165 BCE, Judah successfully reclaimed the Temple and rededicated it. The 8-day festival of Hanukkah was instituted to celebrate that rededication. The Gospel of John references the festival in Chapter 10, verse 22: “Now it was the Feast of Dedication in Jerusalem, and it was winter.”
